Brass Band Hire For Weddings

Brass Band Hire For Weddings

Not many couples planning their wedding entertainment immediately think to hire a brass band for their special day. Surprisingly, a brass ensemble is a superbly versatile way of having great live wedding music to cover several key parts of the day.

Brass Band Hire

Brass Band Hire: The Wedding Ceremony

Your guests will be excitedly waiting at the venue eagerly anticipating the arrival of the loving couple. This is a perfect opportunity to entertain your guests whilst they wait for you. A brass band can play such a wide variety of music so they can play different genres as required. Perhaps a light classical repertoire would set the tone for the formalities of the wedding ceremony. They could even perform a fanfare as the couple arrive along with some pomp and circumstance as they walk down the aisle. Pieces of music such as the Trumpet Voluntary are ideal for this. The band will also be able to play as the married couple and guests leave the venue and make their way to the drinks reception.

Brass Band Hire: The Drinks Reception

Although the British summer is quite unpredictable, the majority of couples do tie the knot and keep their fingers crossed for good weather on their special day. A brass band is just perfect for an outdoor drinks reception for weddings and other celebrations. Bands such as High Society Brass Band can perform anything from jazz to easy listening and even some fun pop covers to entertain your guests.

High Society Brass Band

What’s more – they look great and, as they are completely acoustic, the band can move indoors and continue at a moments notice if the weather does turn inclement.

How much does a brass band cost?

Prices to hire a brass band start from as little as £450 for a 4 or 5 piece band depending on location. A typical performance is for around 2-3 hours of live music which is enough to cover both the wedding ceremony and the drinks reception. We think this is terrific value compared to other artists.

Wedding Music Guide

Your Book Live guide to hiring Wedding Music.

A journey through the wedding day exploring how some of our previous clients have used live music to make it completely unforgettable. You’ll find useful advice & suggestions plus information on pricing and logistics in our complete guide on how to hire wedding music for your special day.

First things first…

Before arranging any musical treats for your wedding, we recommend talking with the venue to find out what their policy is on entertainment. Many listed buildings and venues within residential areas may have a sound limiter which might restrict the type of band you have on the day. They may also require performers to be set up earlier than the artist requires which could significantly add to the cost of your entertainment. It is also worth checking how much room is available for bands / singers to perform. Some venues may have to rearrange the tables after the wedding breakfast to accommodate the evening entertainment and most venues will want to see artists’ Public Liability Insurance and PAT certification for any electrical equipment prior to performance. The Book Live team can help with these arrangements and liaise with your venue and our artists to ensure a trouble-free performance.

Once your venue has confirmed everything is okay your live wedding music search begins and Book Live will be delighted to make suggestions from our portfolio of superb live bands and singers – we make good things happen.

The average wedding lasts nearly 10 hours so there is plenty of opportunity to add different musical flavours throughout the day so here are a few of the most popular moments to have live music:

Wedding music for the ceremony and service:

Wedding Ceremony

For the majority of couples, this is the most formal part of the day where you actually tie the knot amongst family and friends. What kind of tone would you like to set for your wedding service?

Elegant, classical, poignant, cultured: You might like to consider an opera singer to gently welcome guests in with 2 x arias, a beautiful song during the signing of the register and again [optional] at the end of the service.

Opera Singers: Fees from: £350
www.booklive.co.uk/band/london-soprano

Uplifting, spiritual, romantic: Gospel singers can create a truly uplifting sound that will bring everyone together whilst they focus on your wedding ceremony. Our gospel singers can cater for either a religious or a civil ceremony where the music has to be pre-checked so as not to contain any religious content.

Gospel Singers: Fees from: £325
www.booklive.co.uk/band/amazing-grace-gospel-singer

Light, fun, upbeat, jazzy: A dixie jazz band can provide a bright, up tempo feel to this part of the wedding day. You may like to have them perform outside the venue on a summer’s day to keep guests entertained. They’re also perfect for music during the photographs or outdoor receptions immediately after the wedding ceremony.

Dixie Band: Fees from: £525

Wedding music for the drinks reception & wedding breakfast:

Wedding Drinks Reception

Sophisticated, classical, refined: Harpists are very popular entertainment for the drinks reception. The music includes jazz, easy listening and show tunes. A harpist may need some amplification if you are expecting more than 150 guests or the music may not be loud enough to carry within your venue.

Harpist: Fees from: £300

Smooth, warm, timeless: A swing singer is an extremely popular addition to many wedding drinks receptions. The music includes hits from Sinatra, Michael Bublé, Matt Monroe and more.

Swing singer: Fees from: £500

Spicy, vibrant, different: Our talented guitarists perform great Spanish music with a Latin beat which is ideal for summer weddings.

Spanish / Classical guitarist: Fees from: £250

Wedding music for the evening party:

Wedding Party

Cool, classy, stylish, slick: A swing band is a great idea for couples wanting great music from the 1920′s to the 1950′s with music from Sinatra, Glenn Miller, The Ratpack and much more. The band may even be able to cover the music for the drinks reception and meal too with an instrumental option.

Swing Band: Fees from: £1100
www.booklive.co.uk/band/5-star-swing

Exciting, all-encompassing, most popular: Our wedding function bands know how to get everyone on the dance floor and play a wide range of music that will suit guests young and old. This is by far the most popular wedding entertainment.

Function bands: Fees from: £900

Glamorous, sexy, spectacular: Our Latin / Brazilian bands bring a spicy, intoxicating flavour to their performances. Expect feathers, amazing dancers, an energetic performance and a unique musical experience for an unusual treat.

Wedding music on a budget

Sometimes our budget won’t stretch to having our dream wedding full of great live music. Here are a few ideas to keep costs down:

  • Avoid the peak days. The majority of couples tie the knot on a Saturday between May and September. You can save £££’s by getting married on any other day and if your celebrations are not in the peak-season you may find discounts on all your wedding suppliers.
  • Hiring local bands / singers to save money on travel expenses / overnight accommodation.
  • Avoiding early set up fees. Most bands / singers can set up in under an hour. They will usually charge extra if you need them to set up several hours before their performance.
  • Hiring 1x act that can provide the music for different parts of the day. Many artists can perform jazz, soul, party music and may also be able to provide a DJ service as well.
  • Let the venue help with recorded music. It isn’t essential to have live music for the whole day. Your venue may be able to play CD’s or background music during the drinks reception or meal. Decide what you want the highlight of your wedding day to be and allocate the budget specifically for that rather than splitting a small budget between 2 x or more acts.
  • Let your guests contribute towards the evening entertainment. Add the band to your wedding gift list – a novel way to have a memorable night plus all your guests benefit.
  • Book early. Hiring a live band 12-18 months in advance can save you around 10% on the total cost and it will also avoid any problems with availability.
  • Use a respected Wedding Music Agency as they will likely have secured discounted rates for their artists and their contracts mean your entertainment will be secure for your big day without any hassles.

We don’t recommend:

  • Using a friend’s band. This can often lead to disappointment because they will be missing out on a paid gig plus they won’t be able to enjoy your wedding as much because they are ‘working’. This is the second most common reason that brides contact us after being let down. (The first being that an uncontracted band has cancelled)
  • Leaving it until the last minute. It’s rare that bands will offer last minute discounts as they will be more in demand as availability dries up for other artists.
  • Hiring the cheapest act you can find. It is always better to have a DJ than hire an awful singer or band. No-one wants to listen to bad live music. [Read our article: Cheap entertainment or expensive mistake]

What does a live band need to perform?

Most live bands have a requirement list for performances – this is called a ryder. A typical ryder is:

  • Access to a power supply. They will usually need 2 or 3 x standard power sockets and they will bring suitable cables / connectors to power their equipment
  • A suitable performance area. A 4 piece band will need approx 4 x 3metres; a 6-8 piece live band will need approx 6 x 4metres
  • 30 minutes to set up for acoustic artists to set up; Up to 45 minutes for a solo singer to set up; 60-90 minutes to set up. Bands don’t want to disturb your event but they would also rather not sit around for hours ahead of a performance so they usually arrive at a suitable time to set up around 2 hours ahead of the party.
  • Hot food for each band member and soft drinks. You will get the best out of the band if you look after them whilst they are with you.
  • A changing / chill-out area where they can also leave their valuables.
  • Parking spaces to be provided or paid for.

Can I go and see the band before I book?

Some bands do have public performances but most don’t as these gigs are usually in pubs and clubs and most of the bands we represent prefer not to do these. We’ve included as many live videos of the bands on their pages so you can see them as well as listen to their audio samples. Remember, too, if a band does have a public performance, they may get booked for your date by the time you get to see them. We are unable to arrange for any prospective client to go and see a band at someone else’s wedding or private party.

How does payment work?

A deposit is due at the point of booking. Book Live can accept payments by Visa, Switch, Mastercard, Cheque or Bank Transfer.
Balance payments should be settled directly with the band leader either 2 weeks in advance or in cash on the night so they can pay all the band members promptly.

Classical music guide for brides

Your Book Live Music guide to hiring Classical Music.

Which string quartet should I book, where can I find a wedding harpist, how much does an opera singer cost and our complete guide on how to hire classical music for your event.

Classical Music Guide

Which classical music should I book?

Perfect for the wedding ceremony, during the drinks reception or over dinner, classical music is still one of the most popular music genres to have for any special event. It’s sophisticated elegance adds a note of formality to the occasion whilst maintaining a warm musical backdrop that exudes class. Here are a few pointers to what is best for each event from our portfolio:

Classical String Quartets:

Usually comprising of 2 x violins, a cello and a viola, a string quartet plays much more than classical music. Today ensembles perform a huge range of music from light classical to jazz, show tunes and even some modern chart hits. You may even have been at a reception and heard a version of Wonderwall by Oasis pierce through the chitter chatter. It’s elevating, fun and really sets the tone for your event. A string quartet is ideal entertainment for the wedding service, ceremony, drinks reception and during dinner.

When you hire a classical string quartet with Book Live, you’ll have plenty of input into the music performed on the day or you can simply leave it to them – string quartets usually know what is well received.

One of our most popular classical string quartets is:
Viva Strings: www.booklive.co.uk/band/viva-strings

Viva Strings Classical String Quartet

Harpists:

A harpist is such a stylish addition to an event. The long lines of the harp and light, music is such a subtle and sophisticated way to entertain your guests. The repertoire is similar to a string ensemble but the harp is quieter and may demand special focus for larger events. If you are expecting more than 100 guests in a large venue we would recommend adding a PA [sound equipment] to amplify the harp or it may not be heard so well. A harpist is ideal entertainment for the wedding service, ceremony and possibly the drinks reception and during dinner with amplification. One of our most popular harpists is:
Camilla: www.booklive.co.uk/band/harpist-camilla

Harpist London

Classical Duos:

A classical duo may be perfect for smaller venues and budgets. They perform beautiful music and are available in many different formats:

  • Violin and cello
  • Flute and cello
  • Flute and harp
  • Piano and flute
  • Piano and harp

A classical duo is ideal entertainemnt for the wedding service, ceremony, drinks reception and during dinner with amplification. One of our most popular classical duos is:
Gemini Flute & Cello Duo: www.booklive.co.uk/band/gemini-flute-and-cello-duo

Classical Duo

Opera Singers:

With the popularity of Katherine Jenkins, Alfie Bowes, Andrea Bocelli and others, an opera singer is a stunning option which most people use as a highlight to a very special occasion. Many people also like to have an opera singer for their wedding service as a powerful and romantic centrepiece to their special day. An opera singer can sing without any sound equipment although we recommend having one so they can play backing music for a truly memorable experience. An opera singer is ideal entertainment for the wedding service, ceremonyor as a feature during dinner. One of our most popular harpists is:
London Soprano: www.booklive.co.uk/band/london-soprano

London Soprano

How much does classical music cost to hire?

Fees vary considerably although classical music is still one of the best value musical options for weddings and celebrations. Book Live has negotiated the best fees for all of the artists we represent. £350-£600: This price range covers most classical ensembles in the UK. These fees have historically been the usual cost to hire a string trio or classical string quartet for up to hours. Examples include:

Cheshire based. Bright and sophisticated ensemble available as a duo, trio or quartet for weddings, receptions and events.

All enquiries made with Book Live will include the total cost for the performance as long as we know all the information about your event.

What does a classical music artist need to perform?

The requirements are usually much simpler than a band that needs sound equipment:

  • Around 15-20 minutes to set up.

Can I go and see the artist before I book?

Most bookings are made by private clients for weddings, celebrations or for corporate entertainment. We are unable to arrange for any prospective client to go and see a band at someone else’s wedding or private party.

How does payment work?

A deposit is due at the point of booking. Book Live can accept payments by Visa, Switch, Mastercard, Cheque or Bank Transfer.

Jazz Band Guide for Brides

Your Book Live Music guide to hiring Jazz & Swing bands.

What are the different types of jazz band, how much does a swing band cost and our complete guide to booking jazz & swing bands for your event.

Swing Band Guide

What are the different types of jazz band?

There are five main types of jazz bands which you might use for different parts of your event.

Dixie Jazz Bands:

These can be called dixie bands, ‘trad jazz’ bands or New Orleans style jazz bands. The musicians are highly talented performers playing acoustic [unpowered] instruments with a typical line up of clarinet, sousaphone and banjo with the option of additional instruments such as trumpet, saxophone, cornet and even side drums. This style of jazz came from America after the first world war and is real toe-tapping music which can be performed indoors or outdoors and, as the band doesn’t need a power supply, they can move around at a venue. Dixie bands are perfect for a summer’s day, Christmas events, promotions and events which can enjoy the bright visuals as well as the fun, upbeat music. Many people like to have a dixie band for during the photographs at a wedding or an outdoor drinks reception. A great example of a dixie jazz band is:
The Dixie Jazz Men: www.booklive.co.uk/band/the-dixie-jazz-men

Dixie Jazz Band

1920s Jazz Bands:

Many people love the great jazz from the 1920′s and it is a terrific theme for many events featuring period music including timeless classics like ‘Charleston’ and ‘Latin from Manhattan’ and other popular songs. A typical line up for a 1920s band is piano, bass, drums, saxophone and female vocals with the option of violin, brass:
78RPM: www.booklive.co.uk/band/78rpm

78RPM

Instrumental Jazz Bands:

These are perfect for the drinks reception or as a cool musical backdrop, a solo pianist, saxophonist or live jazz band comprising of piano, bass and drums. The music comes from the classic ‘Great American songbook’. These include all the jazz music of the 20th century from artists like Ella Fitzgerald, Nat King Cole, Sinatra, Jobim, Cole Porter and more. A great example of an instrumental jazz band is:
Junction Jazz: www.booklive.co.uk/band/the-junction-jazz-band

Junction Jazz Band

Swing Bands:

If you’re looking for a lively jazz band to get guests on the dance floor then you’ll definitely want a great swing band. Swing bands – or big bands – are jazz bands with added brass musicians and they play music from artists like Glenn Miller, Frank Sinatra, The Rat Pack and more. The music tends to be much more up tempo than an instrumental jazz band and is ideal for dancing to. Naturally, swing bands cost a bit more because there are more musicians. A great example of a swing band is:
5 Star Swing: www.booklive.co.uk/band/5-star-swing

Sinatra meets Michael Bublé:

The music from the legendary Frank Sinatra is extremely popular both as a musical backdrop to drinks receptions and also for the evening entertainment and, with Michael Buble bringing a new dimension to modern day swing, many artists are including his music into their repertoire, too. We have several great solo artists who perform with professionally recorded backing tracks and are perfect for smaller budgets and spaces where a live band isn’t essentialA great example of a solo performer who can sing both Sinatra and Buble is:
Maybe Buble: www.booklive.co.uk/band/michael-buble-tribute

How much does a jazz band cost?

Prices for a jazz band depends on the number of performers and Book Live has negotiated the best fees for all of the artists we represent. However, there are different categories of pricing for Jazz & Swing bands:

£300-500: This price range includes instrumental jazz bands, musicians and singers. All equipment is included although it doesn’t include travel fees. Examples include:

The Sax

One More For The Road (with live band)
Surrey based band. Sensational Frank Sinatra tribute act. Available as a solo tribute singer or with a live band, this is one of the UK’s best Sinatra performers. Highly recommended.

What is included in the price?

All of our Jazz & Swing bands and singers have their own sound equipment. The fee covers a typical performance for 2 or 3 x sets plus CDs/iPod played when they are not performing. It also covers all their insurances, PAT certification [safety checks] for their equipment, an arrival of approximately 6pm and a finish of around midnight. Expect to pay extra for an early set up / a late finish, significant travel expenses plus any additional sets or musicians. All enquiries made with Book Live will include the total cost for the performance as long as we know all the information about your event.

What does a live band need to perform?

Most live bands have a requirement list for performances – this is called a ryder. A typical ryder is:

  • Access to a power supply. They will usually need 2 or 3 x standard power sockets and they will bring suitable cables / connectors to power their equipment
  • A suitable performance area including equipment. A solo singer will need approximately 2 x 3metres, 4 piece band will need approx 4 x 3metres, a 6-8 piece live band will need approx 6 x 4metres
  • Around 40-90 minutes to set up. Bands don’t want to disturb your event but they would also rather not sit around for hours ahead of a performance so they usually arrive at a suitable time to set up ahead of the party.

How to hire a function band

How do I choose the right Rock & Pop band, how much does a live band cost and our complete guide to booking function bands for your event.

Party Band Guide

We all know what a difference great live music makes to an event and the atmosphere it creates can transform a party from a good night to a fantastic night that will be remembered for a long time to come. So, where to start…

What kind of music will suit your event?
The song list between bands varies enormously. Many will play a good selection of tried and trusted covers that the band knows will get people on the dance floor. They have built up their repertoire based on their experience of events and most will add new songs that they believe will be classic hits for years to come. We recommend choosing a band that plays the music that everyone will really enjoy on the night. Here are a few differences between the different types of Rock & Pop bands music.

Wedding Rock & Pop bands:
These bands will usually have a songlist of great covers from the last 50 years including hits from artists like The Beatles, Bryan Adams, George Michael, Kylie and Amy Winehouse. An example of a wedding rock & pop band with a songlist suitable for all age groups:

Indie Rock & Pop bands:
These bands will usually have a songlist of cool Indie / Rock songs from artists like Oasis, Wheatus, Sterephonics, Kings of Leon, Kaiser Chiefs and The Killers. An example of an Indie Rock & Pop band suitable for guests wanting a rockier sound from more contemporary music:
The Indie Allstars: www.booklive.co.uk/band/indie-allstars

Modern Rock & Pop bands:
Some bands perform from a really up to date playlist of current chart hits that are excellent for 21st birthday celebrations, corporate promotions and other events for a young audience.

Will the band take requests?
Most bands will be happy to learn 1 or 2 songs for a special event like a wedding if they have plenty of time to rehearse it. We recommend giving a band 2 to 3 months notice so they can make sure it sounds right in good time.

How much does a live band cost?
Prices for a live band vary enormously and Book Live has negotiated the best fees for all of the bands we represent. However, there are different categories of pricing for Rock & Pop bands:

£750-£1000: This price range includes live bands who want to fill their diaries – after all – they would rather be working than not. All equipment is included although it doesn’t include travel fees. Examples include:

The Cake Band
Northamptonshire based band. Quite possibly the best value soul / party band in the country. Experienced musicians fronted by male and female vocals.

For The Record
Midlands based band performing classic dance floor hits for weddings, parties and functions. Male and female vocals included in the 5 piece band.

£1000-£2000: This price range covers most Rock & Pop bands in the UK. These fees have historically been the usual cost to hire a live band for the night including all equipment. Again these fees don’t include travel expenses. Examples include:

The New Beat Connection
Norfolk based band. Hire The New Beat Connection. Superb live 4-7 piece band playing party and modern music with a great repertoire.

The Space Boys
Surrey based band. Excellent 4 piece party band playing from a great repertoire of classic and cool music. Very popular band that deliver every time and add a personal touch to every event.

£2000+: These bands consider themselves to be Premier bands suitable for every occasion. There equipment will usually be of the highest quality and the price reflects their experience, client list and performance. Examples include:

Music Mash
London based band. Music Mash is a fresh, contemporary and distinctive event band that delivers an incredible performance with a playlist of both classic and modern music.

The Highlights
London based band. The Highlights are a unique blend of the UK’s finest session musicians. With years of unparalleled experience The Highlights are guaranteed to take any corporate event or private party to the next level.

What is included in the price?
All Rock & Pop bands have their own sound equipment and most have lighting which will add a little sparkle to the performance area and dance floor. The fee covers a typical performance for 2 or 3 x sets plus CDs/iPod played when they are not performing. It also covers all their insurances, PAT certification [safety checks] for their equipment, an arrival of approximately 6pm and a finish of around midnight. Representing artists as best we can

Book Live is a small company with some big ideas. We’re not after global domination or shops in New York, Paris and Rome, we just want to provide great live bands, singers and entertainers for people looking to have a fantastic time. We love doing this!

It all starts with having a great portfolio of decent people who want to share their talent and make people smile. Life is about making memories and we think it’s a blessing that we can, in some small way, be part of someone else’s special day – especially when it’s celebrating huge life events like weddings and birthdays.

Crowd Dancing

Representation

Here is an example of one of our band pages: ePoP. We need promotional material to make this happen:

  • As many Full mp3s as possible [minimum x 3 - maximum x 10]. We will edit them and also mix a Sampler of your tracks. This is epop’s sampler. We send these samplers to our associates who book music with us.
  • Good quality photographs – group photos if it’s a band. A mix of live and group shots is best
  • Video: We receive more bookings for artists who have videos than those who don’t. Send us your youtube links – we edit and upload them onto the Book Live Youtube Channel
  • Biography – a bit about you. ‘We are the best party band’ doesn’t cut it. We need some real info. How much fun will people have if they book you? Are you interactive? Will you learn a new song or two? What makes you different from everyone else?
  • Previous clients. A list of corporate clients you have performed for. Don’t worry if you don’t have any but please tell us about where you have performed or the connections you have. If you were Robbie Williams’s backing singer then that speaks volumes!
  • Your repertoire. Sometimes 1 x song is the difference between a booking and a missed opportunity. A short song list of 20 songs with ‘plus many more’ isn’t ideal. Clients look through these and if you can list their first dance or special song in your repertoire it could secure the booking
  • Testimonials. People want to know what others think of your past performances and sometimes 1 x piece of feedback with a special detail can help with a booking.
  • Your honest pricing. We’ve had artists send through their ‘preferred pricing’ and not been able to get them any work because they usually go out for much less. We believe in great value and want to provide as much work as possible for all of our artists. However, a lot of bookings are price dependant so please bear this in mind when sending your fees through
  • Our Artist Registration form. This can be downloaded here. There is a section on travel expenses on the form which enables us to quote fees for enquiries all over the country. We cannot represent an act without this. We appreciate that it takes about 10 minutes to complete but it does save us bothering you on the phone when you may be busy or even out of the country.
  • Permission to represent you. The Artists Registration form is also your permission for Book Live to use your material to promote you and our portfolio. We would ideally like to represent you under an exclusive name so we aren’t duplicating enquiries that you might already receive elsewhere. We’re open to suggestions for alternative names to represent you so please let us know your thoughts.
  • Regular datesheets. These really help us and can secure bookings much faster. A simple Word document with a list of unavailable dates emailed through every time you take a new booking is really appreciated.

Once we have this then we can edit everything and put your act onto the www.booklive.co.uk website. We’ll let you know once your info is online and ask you to check the details and give some feedback. If it’s not right we can change it.

Putting a new act online takes around 3 hours once we have all your material so we want to make sure we have everything to hand before we put you ‘live’. From there we can put you forward for enquiries.

Promises, promises…

We add artists to our portfolio because we think you’re great and hope our visitors can find you because you might be exactly what they are looking for. However, one thing we can’t do is promise lots of work. Some of our artists get half of their diary filled through us in a year – some don’t get the work they deserve from us. We’re working on this but we’re honest enough not to commit your diary to dates until someone confirms their booking via a contract. We don’t want any artist losing work through unfulfilled promises – this is your livelihood and we take that very seriously. However, we will promise to do our best to secure dates in your diary – after all – what would be the point in having you in the Book Live portfolio if we can’t get work for you!

We try to see our artists perform live whenever we can. It really helps us let people know what you do and how good you are – especially when we’re discussing events with clients on the phone. We love live music so if you have a great gig coming up – let us know. and we’ll try and come along.

Finally, we’re always open to learning things fom you so if there is anything you think would help – let us know. We understand what is involved in performing for an event and we have your back covered by making sure you have refreshments, food, access to a changing area, a power supply, parking taken care of, the payment arrangements organised and all the other important info required to do what you do. If you need anything else – let us know so we can ensure everything is right for your booking so everyone gets the very best feedback possible.

We look forward to working with you.

Cheap Entertainment or Expensive Mistake

Organising the entertainment for a wedding or party can be a really exciting project. You want your guests to have a great time – perhaps something they can remember for years to come – especially if it’s your wedding – the entertainment is your gift to them.

Crowd Dancing

With 1,000′s of amazing live bands & singers to choose from, for us mere mortals, the process may have to start by looking at our budget. We recently looked at How much does it cost to hire a band so we know roughly what the fees would be, but – what if we’re working with a shoestring budget of under £500 – we can still have a good time, yes?

Well, the answer is possibly but, unless you already know an amazing singer or band who is happy to do you a favour, hiring cheap entertainment could prove to be an expensive mistake. Here is why – you can never get that time back.

Hiring cheap entertainment is a risk. You may be able to find someone that will entertain you and your guests for a few hundred pounds but:

  • will they provide a contract – they may not even turn up without one?
  • is their equipment tested and suitable for your event?
  • are they insured?
  • will they make your event memorable?

If the answer isn’t yes to all of the above it may be a safer option to simply book a DJ. Nobody wants to listen to a bad singer or band and bad usually means cheap. Cheap usually means under £500 for a singer / tribute act / duo or under £1000 for a band. Read our article here for a closer look at costs.

The saying “You get what you pay for” is usually true. There are some exceptions and we know lots of great wedding bands & wedding singers who charge considerably less than their more expensive counterparts and can be just as good if not better. However, there are still standard fees that reflect the experience that you and your guests will have on the night.

Book Live has a comprehensive portfolio of great entertainers across the music spectrum who we know can perform at the highest level. We regularly go and see our bands & singers perform so we get to know what they do, how good they are and the differences between them. Not all Rat Pack Singers are the same, bands are wildly different and we get to see this so we can let people know when they contact us. That’s what we do – and we love it.

We want the best for every event and only represent quality artists who we know will be great. Book Live offers a peace of mind guarantee, secure bookings and emergency options should anything unexpected happen. Hiring your entertainment with a reputable agent like Book Live can save you time, money and offer you a lot more protection than booking an artist directly. Plus, we’ll provide honest and impartial advice. Book Live doesn’t use a house band or singer so we won’t try and sell you something that isn’t right for your event. We want your celebration to be remembered by you and your guests for all the right reasons so let us know how we can help – we make good things happen.

The best covers band

Book Live has seen 100′s of great bands over the years and we know what our clients are looking for when they come to us wanting great live music. ePOP fit the bill perfectly – young, good looking, great energy, excellent musicianship and vocals and – perhaps making them stand out from the rest – a thoroughly modern playlist!

ePOP Covers Band ePOP Band

ePOP are a 4 – 7 piece band comprising of female vocals, bass, drums and guitar / male vocals. With the option of a 2nd female vocalist and trumpet, could ePOP be the best covers band in the UK? We’d love to hear your thoughts.

The band has an enviable client list yet this hasn’t turned them into divas. They are bright, great to deal with and want to entertain like any good function bands should.

The band makes a perfect wedding band, a first choice for corporate entertainment and we’re expecting a lot of interest from clients needing a modern party band with a great playlist. The band repertoire features all the recent hits from artists like Beyonce, Rihanna, J-Lo, Celo Green, Adele, Lady Gaga, The Ting Tings and many more. What’s more, they sound amazing live.

The ePOP profile includes audio samples and video for the band along with a full repertoire, info and testimonials from previous clients. The bands pricing starts from as little as £1500 plus travel expenses which we think is amazing for a band like this. We’re looking forward to a bright future with the band.

Call our friendly team if you’d like to discuss how to hire ePOP for your forthcoming celebrations. They may just be the best covers band for your event.

We make good things happen.
